Thanksgiving and other stuff

Thanksgiving was so great! We were able to go down to Tri-Cities to see my family and spend some time with them. It was so nice, especially since we really haven't been able to spend much time with them. Dinner at Chris and Becky's was soooo good. I swear, I gained like 10 pounds just in that one day. But boy, was the food good. lol

The past few days have been really long. Jeremy and I each had to write an extensive research paper over something currently going on in the economy (or in the very recent past). Jeremy wrote about the housing market and I wrote about the collapse of Washington Mutual. I actually learned a lot about it, but it was a terror trying to find enough information about it since it just happened. I thought there would be a ton of stuff out there, especially since it was such a big thing, but there really wasn't much that actually went along with what my paper was about.

Someone in the ward was getting rid of a lot of furniture (they were going to make a massive run to Goodwill, I think) and they decided to let people come pick through it, and Jeremy and I got some stuff. I'm really excited. We got this 50's-ish bookcase/curio case thingy. It's got 3 shelves and sliding glass doors and stuff. I really like it, but Jeremy doesn't like it as much. He wants to chop the legs off of it. But that's what gives it character! Anyway, we got that, and then we got this HUGE book case, it's like 6' high and 3' wide. I really like the fact that it's got a lot of storage, so now we can put ALL of our books out instead of having them under the bed or whatever. The only downside is that it's kind of ugly. But there's lots of potential. I'm thinking of maybe putting some molding around the front opening to dress it up a little and also filling in the little holes on the side and painting the whole thing black. I think it'd look a little spiffy then. Oh, and we also got a new headboard and footboard. Now we just need to find a frame that will work with them. It's got like a wrought-iron look to it and it's really pretty. The footboard has a little bit of rust on it, but we're going to take care of that. We're really excited about it. =)

On another exciting note, we got the whole place decorated for Christmas! I'm way excited about it. I even used thumbtacks to put the little mini lights around the top of the room. But then part of them randomly fell down, and I haven't had the time to put them up, what with this awful paper and all. But it still looks way cute in here. I'm way excited for Christmas. And I'm so excited that the quarter ends next week! I'm really not looking forward to finals, but at least I've got almost a month off afterwards, so that will be a much-needed break.

Anyway, that's what's going on right now! =)
