So anyway, here's the stuff I made! I'm pretty excited about how they came out and I'm definitely going to keep taking ceramics classes while I'm at EWU. It's been a lot of fun so far and I really enjoy it. =)

Ceramics Pictures!! (at last)
Yes, the long-anticipated day has finally arrived. I went and picked up all the rest of my awesome crap today, and I can now post pictures of it on here! =)
This is the first thing I ever threw on the potter's wheel. I really like how it turned out. Not quite sure what I'm going to use it for, but it's pretty.
These are the peas I've mentioned before; they were for our first assignment in class. We had to pick a food and create it on a large scale (it had to be at least 12 inches in one direction). I included the pen in the picture so you could get a feel for how big they actually are.
This was a set of goblets I made for an assignment in class. They were a little smaller than I was originally thinking, but I was making them more for display than for use anyway, so it worked.
Okay, so from left to right: a plate I threw on the wheel that I got bored of and just kinda flicked different colors of slip on, another of my first things on the wheel (no idea what I'm going to use it for), and Jeremy's "man goblet" (he saw the other 3 I made and wanted me to make a huge one for him to use)
The white, pink, and black bowls were for our last official class project. We had to pick a culture, find something in the culture to re-create as best we could, and then make 2 variations of it. The black bowl was a copy of an Etruscan bowl, the pink one (it was supposed to be red, but it didn't really work for some reason) was a modern take on it, and the white one was supposed to be "organic" (I dunno, that's what the teacher suggested, and as I was out of ideas, I went with it). The green bowl was just an extra one I threw to use some of my clay. I love the green!
And finally, these are some mugs I made as gifts. The one on the left was supposed to be pink and black, but the pink kinda became beige/tan during the glazing fire =(. The middle one was supposed to be blue with purple splotches, but the purple turned a really light blue after it was glazed. And the one on the right is kind of a denim-type blue. I really like how it turned out.
So anyway, here's the stuff I made! I'm pretty excited about how they came out and I'm definitely going to keep taking ceramics classes while I'm at EWU. It's been a lot of fun so far and I really enjoy it. =)

Wow, you made a lot of stuff. Great job. I wish that was something I knew how to do, but never took any art classes:(
ReplyDeleteI love the stuff, and I'm dying laughing at "the man goblet" so hilarious! I'm with Nichole. Maybe Nichole and I should take a class @ CBC or something together! haha!
ReplyDeleteI totally love the plates in the picture before the last one! But everything looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteNow that you're an expert in painting plates and ceramics we should go back to the Pottery Shed and paint some more --meaning: I want to paint something cute and I need company, hahaha!
