News

Okie dokie, so here's the rundown of the past few days.

Friday night we spur-of-the-moment decided to go down and visit my family in Tri-Cities, which was so much fun. We didn't get down there until really late Friday night, but it was just a really nice, fun weekend for us. And it got us away from the stress that we would have had if we had stayed up here, which made it even better! While I was down in Pasco, I finished the alteration on my dress. I bought it at the Macy's clearance floor, for 75% off it's original price, so it came out to like $17 or something. But, it was just a tad short. So, I bought some black fabric to match at Jo-Ann's, and my mom helped me figure out the best way to attach it. And now you can't even tell that it wasn't part of the original dress! I'll have to add a picture of it later. (Haha, I just realized that I wrote about going to Tri-Cities in the last post. Oops! But I added some details to it)

Monday I worked like crazy. One of the professors came in and wanted to use some slides in his lecture on Tuesday. Luckily, they were all imported to the computer. However, they weren't on CD yet. And that took FOREVER. I was at work until 7:30. It was a complete pain in the butt. But, at least I'm getting paid for it! yay! And it'll help boost my next paycheck since I missed a few days due to the medical stuff last week.

Tuesday, we found out that we're NOT moving this time. Our manager still hadn't been able to wrangle anyone into the office to sign a lease, so Tina had to move on to the next person on the list. We are pretty bummed. But we're still at the top of the list, so when the next unit becomes available we'll be the first notified about it. And our manager has us at the top of her list to be able to move out, so that's nice as well. It just really stinks because it was the perfect apartment. It was on the end, so we'd only have do deal with one neighbor being noisy. And it was really close to the laundry facilities as well. Plus all the brand new flooring and stuff. =( Oh well. I've just got to let it go.

Today I made some scrumptious cranberry orange bread. I'm pretty sure it lasted less than an hour with Jeremy and I eating it. And now we're going to work out! yay!!!

Good News!

Well, first off, Thursday I went in for a CT scan to see what was going on in my abdomen. The good news is that it's not my appendix. What I have is called mesenteric adenitis, and you can find out more about it here. The way the doctor explained it to me is that the lymph nodes in my abdomen are inflamed, which is why it has been hurting. The cause is usually viral, so there's not much we can do for it short of taking Tylenol or Ibuprofen as needed for the pain.

Secondly, Connie (our manager) got back on Friday, and apparently she had a large stack of applications on her desk, and one of them had even put down the money for the background check. I think Connie is now just waiting for them to come in and sign a lease. =) So hopefully they'll come in Monday and sign the lease so that we can talk to Tina and start moving things in Monday. It's gonna be crazy!

Thirdly, we decided to come down to Tri-Cities and visit family this weekend, which has been really nice. And I'm excited because my mom is giving me a toy chest that my grandpa made that I'm going to use to store blankets and stuff, and I decided to make a cushion to go on top of it so that we can use it as extra seating as well. I went and picked up all the supplies today and I got the foam cut to size and all the pieces cut out of the fabric. I even put the zipper in tonight! I think I'm going to wait to put the rest of it together until I can use my own sewing machine, though, as I cut out my fabric for a 1/2 inch seam allowance, and my mom's machine doesn't have a mark to show you where 1/2 an inch is. So I'll have to wait to use my own. But I really don't think it'll be that hard, since I got the zipper part done. That was a PAIN.

But yeah, it's been a good couple of days and I'm in a GREAT mood! =)

Life Comes At You Fast...

So I'm blogging for the second time within a week! I think that's a record!

Well, to start thing off, Sunday I woke up with this really sharp pain in my right side, a little above my hip. It was so bad I ended up not going to church. Throughout the day, the pain level fluctuated, but it was there. In the evening, it subsided enough that I was able to get to sleep. Now, I'd had pain in this same area about a week ago, and it was bad enough Sunday that I figured I should probably go see a doctor.

So yesterday I went in to Rockwood, the clinic here. It kind of stunk because I was there for about 2 1/2 hours total. =( So I missed one of my classes because I wasn't expecting it to take quite that long. The walk in part of the clinic was just not moving fast at all. Anyway, I told the doctor what was hurting, and she felt around my stomach to find the exact spot. And it just so happened to be near my appendix, so she was worried that it might be flaring up. So they did some blood work to see if I had the elevated white blood cell count that usually accompanies appendicitis. They also did tests for a urinary tract infection and a tubal pregnancy, in case either of those could be the culprit. After waiting half an hour for the results, I found out that all of them came back negative. (and just to head off any possible rumors--yes, I'm talking about you, Knight family women--I am not pregnant.) They also ruled out the possibility of a kidney stone because my urine sample was blood-free (I know, just what you wanted to know, eh?).

So we're still unsure what exactly is going on. The doctor said that if it's still causing me pain in a few days to come back and I guess they'll do some sort of scan. I forget the exact name, but she called it a Spiral ___ (CT? I dunno, some sort of imaging scan. I think it's similar to a MRI?). The only thing is that it's a couple hundred dollars since we don't have insurance. =( Stink. But, if that becomes our only recourse, I guess that's what we're going to have to do.

In other news, we still haven't been able to find anyone to take over our lease. Our manager, Connie, went through her waiting list, but I guess no one wants one quite yet. Three different people were supposed to come in and get stuff rolling, but I guess none of them did. And the manager at the other complex, Tina, is under a lot of pressure to fill the vacant apartment, so I guess she notified the people after us on her waiting list and gave them a deadline. Connie said that if we're able to find a substitute tenant before they are, though, that Tina would probably give us the apartment. So we'll just have to see how things turn out. I put an ad on Craigslist about it and Jeremy and I have done all that we can, so now it's in the Lord's hands. We would really like to move so we can save a little money, but things happen on the Lord's time schedule. =)

Anyway, later all!

Craziness

So the past few days have been a little crazy around here. I started my job on Monday, as I stated in the last post. And although I love working and feeling productive, this schedule is taking some getting used to. I love the fact that my work schedule is incredibly flexible and that I'm done by 4:00 every day so I have the evenings free. But Jeremy and I have been really busy and it's been hard to get our schedules to work out so we can spend some time together.

Today Jeremy had a campout he had to go on with the scouts. So I'm home alone for 24 hours. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to get to sleep tonight...maybe I'll just kip on the couch while watching a chick flick. I've got a marathon going right now, lol. I've already watched Hitch and I'm currently watching Kate & Leopold. I think that Kate & Leopold just might be my favorite chick flick of all time. I never tire of watching it. *sigh* It's amazing. And Hugh Jackman is a hunk. And he's such a good actor. =) And Meg Ryan rocks. She is definitely one of my favorite actresses. I haven't yet decided which movie I'm going to watch next. Or maybe I'll just head to bed and try to get to sleep. We'll have to see.

Tonight, while watching my movies, I worked on a new blog background--I hope you guys like it, because I sure do. And I feel such satisfaction after completing one =) I got the green & pink swirly paper from misserin and the elements and the textured pink paper from mandy. So my gratitude goes to those lovely ladies for creating freebies that I can bum. =D

Anywho, I think that's about it. We're still waiting to see if we'll be able to move into the complex next door. Our manager had to find someone to put money down on our apartment today, and I never heard back from her on whether someone actually came in or not, so I guess I have to wait until Monday to find out. =( And we'd probably be moving next weekend or something. So keep your fingers crossed for us!

Another Week...

And actually, now that I think about it, quite a bit has happened. Jeremy quit his job at the restaurant because he got an internship. He'll be working for Beneficial Life, which sells life insurance and the like. He started the classes he needs to get his license last week, and hopefully he'll finish up next week. I got a job on campus at the geography/anthropology department as an office aid. My main job is pretty much to transfer a whole bunch of slides to a digital format. And boy is it fun. Actually, it takes a stinking long time for each slide and I spend a lot of time listening to my iPod. But, it works.

And hopefully we'll be moving at the end of the month. We got a call a little over a week ago that there was an open apartment in the deep subsidy housing down the street. However, the lady who manages our current apartment complex has been out on vacation, so we haven't been able to work on finding someone to take over our lease. The manager of the other apartments wants us in by the end of the month, but if it'll take our current manager too long to find someone to fill this lease, she'll have to go to the next person on the waiting list =( So everyone keep their fingers crossed! (and if you know of anyone who is poor and moving into the Spokane area, give them my number, lol)

I've already started deep cleaning my house so I won't have as much to do when we move out. I got all the grout in the shower and in my kitchen scrubbed, the bathtub drain fixed, the oven spotless inside and out, and I even scrubbed the cement in front of our door. (sounds neurotic, I know, but the tenants before us had left their garbage out there or something and it had rotted so there was this stinky, nasty-looking patch of crap right in front of the door, so I had to do something about it). So yeah, I'm really really really hoping this works out. Especially since the other apartment has brand new carpet and linoleum, the kitchen cabinets are only about a year old, and the appliances look really new. Plus, it'll be cheaper. Hallelujah.

Anyway, I think that's about all that's going on here. =)

Oh, and don't forget about my giveaway right below!

Spring Break/First Week of School

So we went down to Pasco for a few days over Spring Break, and it was a lot of fun. I really enjoy going and spending time with the fam. Kinda crazy, since I was aching to get out just a few years ago. Oh, how things change as we get old. ;) lol

So we started classes this week. And it's definitely been nice to have some fresh classes. I'm taking a Money & Banking class, and I'm really enjoying it so far. We've been talking about loans and bonds this week, and it's just been really interesting to see how things in the financial market work. Thursday Garrick and Zackary came up to visit, and it's been really nice to have them up here. It's nice to be able to spend some time hanging out with them. We watched the movie Taken last night, and it was AWESOME! I was totally riveted. Liam Neeson's character is crazy good and there are some sweet action scenes. There were a few scenes that kinda turned my stomach a little, though. They were just a touch too gruesome for me. But all in all it was a good movie.

Then, tonight, we went bowling for a surprise birthday party for a friend. It was so much fun. It was nice to be able to have a little bit of social time with some of the girls. And then it was fun to play a game of bowling; I wasn't doing that good, and there were a couple of little girls there (one was 2 and the other was 3) and they were totally wanting to play, so I had them come over and help me push the ball down the lane. They had a blast and they were sooo cute!
